Why choose DHL eCommerce UK?
Want to work for one of the UK’s best workplaces? We are proud to announce that DHL eCommerce UK has been recognised as a Best Workplace 2025 and achieved Top Employer accreditation for the 5th year running. As well as competitive pay rates, you will be entitled to a range of benefits including discount vouchers for restaurants, cinemas, retail outlets, healthcare and much more as well as pension, enhanced family leave, childcare discounts, employee assistance programme and much more!
About the role:
You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to make sure you’re comfortable. Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.
The role gives job security, working within a growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet - so there’s always all the work you need, giving you job security whilst working within a growing, global business. If you want additional hours, you can have them, and we offer enhanced rates of pay for bank holidays. You’ll be joining a friendly team - our drivers often stay with us for many years (we treat them well!) so you’ll be joining a friendly team who support each other - including sharing traffic updates through WhatsApp!
Key Role Responsibilities
We don’t micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. So, if you like the independence of being out on the open road for long stretches - but also want to be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift, this is the job for you. You’ll make sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others, you’ll need to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day. You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary. You will make sure everything is ‘right first time’ for your customers, both internal and external, and as a great communicator, you’ll work hard to keep customers happy, making sure any queries you can’t answer, are passed on to your site manager quickly.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Class 1 Driving licence as a minimum
- Driver CPC qualification card
- Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
- Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws - and commitment to safe use of the roads
- A ‘can do’ attitude
What about career development?
We take every employee’s career seriously and believe in realising their full potential. We have dedicated learning and development programmes that are open to every employee and an open working culture where everyone’s voice is heard, so you can shape your future career path at DHL eCommerce UK.
