The opportunity

We are seeking an individual to join our Mid-Market team of experienced Underwriters who is passionate about our customers. You will drive every underwriting decision and action with the goal of providing innovative and creative propositions that cater to our customer's unique risk profile and coverage needs. As a Motor Fleet Underwriter, you’ll be analysing and underwriting existing business. This means you’ll be in a market-facing trading role, so it’s important that you are great at communicating and building meaningful relationships with our distribution partners.

We’ll support and train you in all the technical aspects of the role and will make sure that you feel part of the team from day one. Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse and underwrite existing business.
  • Provide innovative and creative propositions to suit customer needs.
  • Exceed customer expectations by delivering the highest quality service.
  • Communicate and build meaningful relationships with distribution partners.
  • Take ownership of workload and support colleagues to deliver collective workload.
  • Interact with brokers and intermediaries daily.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ensure profitable risks are taken in line with company strategy.
  • Deliver quality and timely solutions for customers.
  • Be a team player and contribute to a standout service experience.

Your skills and experience:

  • Willingness to learn, develop, and be part of a team.
  • Underwriting experience (especially with Motor fleet) is a plus, but not essential, as we are open to considering candidates with transferable skills and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Passion and desire to succeed.
  • Ability to make decisions using data and judgment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to challenge processes and decisions.
  • Adaptability to different workloads and pressures.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
