Volunteer – Emergency Beds
Step Into Action: Volunteer in Trident’s Emergency Beds Team!
Support people in crisis. Build hope. Be the difference.
Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and support people at one of the most critical points in their journey? Trident is on the lookout for dynamic, compassionate volunteers to work alongside our Emergency Bed Navigators, supporting clients with multiple support needs —including substance use, offending histories, history of homelessness and mental health challenges.
This is hands-on, heart-forward volunteering, where every hour you give makes a genuine impact.
Please note that this role is unpaid, and the base site is in Moseley, Birmingham – although there would be opportunity to travel to some other sites when there is a need.
What You’ll Do:
- Support residents staying in Emergency Accommodation
- Help people access on-site drop-ins with specialist services (like mental health, recovery, benefits, and housing support)
- Build trust, offer encouragement, and help reduce barriers to engagement
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our skilled Emergency Bed Navigators
Volunteer Roles Available:
- Activities Support – Help break isolation and boost confidence through informal group activities
- Wellbeing Checks – Check in with residents, offer a listening ear, and help them get the support they need
- Peer Support – Use your lived experience to inspire, guide, and uplift others who are just starting their recovery journey
What We’re Looking For:
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life—especially those who bring lived experience or a strong understanding of the challenges our residents face. Whether you’ve navigated homelessness, addiction, mental health struggles, or supported someone who has, your insight can make a real difference.
Our approach is trauma-informed and strengths-based. That means we meet people with compassion, understanding, and respect—focusing on their potential, not just their problems. We’re looking for volunteers who share these values and want to support others in a way that is empowering, non-judgmental, and grounded in hope.
🕓 We Can Be Flexible!
Days, evenings, weekends – we’ll work around you. Whether you’ve got a few hours or a regular day free, we’d love to hear from you.
What You’ll Get:
- Induction, training, and ongoing support
- Real-life experience in frontline homelessness and recovery services
- A chance to be part of a passionate, supportive team
- The reward of changing lives—starting with just showing up
