The role will maximise Maggie's efficiency and professionalism by ensuring the best use of information technology (IT) and communications systems. You will support the IT Manager to ensure reliability and availability of IT services to all computer users, as well as provide technical expertise in developing policies, procedures, and strategies.

Some UK travel and occasional unsociable hours work will be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work with the IT Manager to ensure all systems, computers, and other IT equipment are in good working order and accessible to approved users.
  • Liaise with suppliers to deliver an efficient IT system.
  • Coordinate with the main IT support provider to ensure physical security, disaster recovery, data protection, virus protection, and backup arrangements are in place.
  • Ensure external IT providers perform necessary software and anti-virus updates and maintain system and data security.
  • Support Maggie's telephone systems in coordination with external providers.
  • Maintain an overview of file structures and access controls.

  • Relevant professional qualification or degree with exposure to IT theories/practices.
  • Experience in training and coaching others.
  • Experience managing external contractors.
  • Experience managing projects of varying complexity.
  • Understanding of IT use in private and public sectors.
  • Knowledge of databases, preferably SQL-based.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and standard applications.
  • Comfortable working with Mac and PC platforms.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and prioritise tasks.

  • Familiarity with phone systems, VOIP, Unix, and network engineering.
