As an organisation we are recruiting for new EFL teachers to teach English as a foreign language using the communicative method. They enable students to practise and improve the four basic language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing; with a focus on real-life communication. Grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and discourse all play an important part in the course. In every lesson students are encouraged to communicate with each other using the target structures and vocabulary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be familiar with the courses the school offers and its syllabus
- Prepare lessons efficiently in order to conduct them competently. Lesson planning should cater to the needs of individuals in the class, based on individual learning plans or mini class profiles
- Assist in first day testing, placement, and induction if required
- Abide by the copyright rules and always source material before photocopying
- Set and mark daily homework appropriate to the needs of the class
- Substitute for other teachers in case of their absence, as agreed with the DoS
- Be involved in the school’s observation programme (both by the DoS and peer observations)
- Conduct fortnightly student tutorials and record agreed goals on TeL
- Administer and mark monthly progress tests and record results on TeL
- Monitor students’ progress using the confidence report and dashboard on TeL
- Move students up or down a level as required in consultation with the DoS
- Liaise regularly with teaching partners if you share a class, provide handover information to new or substitute teachers
- Be familiar with and help promote the weekly Social Programme
Skills and Experience:
- Essential: Experience of teaching in an EFL school or summer centre essential
- Essential: First Degree or higher + CELTA or equivalent
- Desirable: Experience of working or living overseas desirable
- DELTA or equivalent
Additional Information:
- Salary: £18 - £20 per hour depending on experience & qualification
- Location: Greenwich HQ, London [On site - Face to Face]
- Earliest Start Date: ASAP
- Working Days & Hours: Mon - Fri; 8:45am - 5pm
