This field-based Technical Services role reports directly to the UK Sales Manager and works closely with the wider sales team. The position is responsible for delivering technical support across a portfolio of Industrial Wood Coatings accounts, encompassing both direct customers and distributor-supplied clients.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or similar preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Sherwin-Williams Industrial Wood Coatings and application methods.
  • Familiarity with customer equipment and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and time management abilities.
  • Technically skilled in product development and troubleshooting.
  • Confident in customer-facing roles and training delivery.
  • Willing to travel regionally and occasionally internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and effective technical support to key customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and responsiveness.
  • Adapt to evolving customer needs by prioritising technical support activities accordingly.
  • Plan and execute line trials in alignment with customer expectations and project timelines.
  • Organise and conduct site visits, preparing detailed reports as requested by customers.
  • Support the laboratory team at Knottingley with technical expertise and collaboration.
  • Maintain strong, constructive relationships with equipment manufacturers and ancillary suppliers relevant to our core market segments.
  • Identify customer training needs and deliver tailored training sessions and presentations.
  • Foster strong working relationships within customer teams to enhance collaboration and trust.
  • Maintain visibility of commercial decisions and outcomes by working closely with the sales team to ensure alignment and shared goals.
