Overview
Job Summary: As a domiciliary audiologist, you can help our most vulnerable patients with their hearing in the comfort of their homes. You will play a crucial role in providing audiological testing services to patients in the comfort of their homes, in-store (certain locations) as well as supporting the NHS.
Job Title: Hearing Aid Dispenser
Reporting to: Regional Manager
Location: East Leeds and York
Days: Weekdays only, No Weekends
Package: Up to £40,000 p/a + Monthly Commission + Company Car
Notes: This role involves domiciliary work and in-store locations as required.
Responsibilities
- Manage a daily schedule of adults with hearing loss.
- Perform Pure Tone Audiometry including masking as required.
- Test for non-organic hearing loss.
- Test for Noise Induced Hearing Loss.
- Take aural impressions and select appropriate ear moulds.
- Select, program, and fit hearing instruments.
- Provide a full, structured, patient-centric aftercare programme to ensure maximum satisfaction.
- Offer appropriate support for individuals with hearing loss.
- Use outcome measures (subjective and objective) to ensure hearing instruments provide maximum benefit and utilise evidence-based practice.
- Use Real Ear Measurement equipment to validate and verify hearing instrument fittings.
- Commit to lifelong learning to stay up to date with developments in Audiology.
- Maintain test equipment and arrange calibration as required.
- Provide ear care and wax removal where required (training provided).
- Follow best practice principles for infection control in the workplace.
- Adhere to HCPC requirements and maintain professional standards within the scope of practice.
Skills & Experience
- Effective and flexible communicator with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with digital systems and strong attention to detail.
- Confident driver with at least two years driving experience and ability to navigate multiple locations.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and solve problems pragmatically.
- Organised with the ability to multitask.
- Working within own clinical knowledge and limitations.
Qualifications
- Meet the appropriate level of expertise to register with the HCPC as a Hearing Aid Dispenser (training provided as needed).
- Ability to reflect on practice with peers and management to identify strengths and development needs.
- Responsible for professional actions and recognising professional boundaries and when to seek advice.
- Contribute as part of a clinical team and discuss client needs with others.
- Attend supervision and training to maintain skills and expand scope of practice while ensuring HCPC CPD compliance.
- Maintain HCPC-compliant CPD records.
- Understand clinical governance principles and their application to Audiology.
- Ensure infection control policies and health and safety/risk management policies are followed by staff.
