We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join the Technology Finance team here at Tesco. In this role, you will act as a key Business Partner to the Technology leadership team, supporting the Group's Technology function to optimise investments. You will engage with various teams across the business, working at the core of new propositions within the Tesco Group.

Your main responsibility will be to ensure a robust understanding of the financial implications of activities being delivered and their impact on the Group's overall performance, particularly in an environment where scale and resilience are crucial. This broad-ranging finance role is ideal for a proactive finance professional who excels at interacting with and influencing senior stakeholders, and who has experience driving change.

  • Collaborate with the Technology Leadership team and FP&A to drive value through an integrated strategic and annual planning process.
  • Support prioritization reviews, bottom-up planning, key assumptions, and alignment of capital and operational spending.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to technology leaders, providing insights on how technology can drive business value.
  • Continuously evaluate the financial management of technology across the business to ensure best-in-class practices, considering the pace of technological change.
  • Communicate financial insights and technology investment outcomes to senior executives within both Finance and Technology.
  • Oversee the financial management of a broad portfolio of investments, which includes numerous individual projects spanning multiple delivery programs and priorities.
  • Review and challenge business cases for technology investments, ensuring that incremental technology spend intended to generate savings elsewhere in the business is appropriately identified and justified.
  • Work closely with the Control and FP&A teams to deliver insightful Management Accounts and Director Packs, ensuring good control of business areas with a detailed understanding of risks and opportunities.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial modelling and analysis to support innovation and business decision-making.
  • Identify and implement efficiency savings across the cost base, while promoting a culture of cost consciousness.
  • Drive process improvements and simplify the finance operating model, working with finance teams across the end-to-end capital lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong data interpretation and analysis skills
  • Experience with Capex analysis and project-based financial assessments
  • Ability to drive the finance agenda and work effectively with senior colleagues
  • Ability to communicate complex financial data and analysis in a clear, concise and persuasive manner to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Understanding of Technology function is an advantage.
