The Secretary II Radiology reports to Unit Management. Responsible for the written records and reports which comprise the patient’s medical record for each hospital admission/visit, processes all physician’s orders; maintains chart forms for nursing personnel to record their observations on patient care; files reports from ancillary departments pertaining to each patient. May schedule appointments, cases, and add-ons; may enter charges for services. Also accountable for maintaining open communication between nursing staff, physician, inter-departmental personnel and the patient.
Responsibilities
- Consistently adheres to and understands HMH and unit specific policies and procedures.
- Maintains a clean and safe and ergonomic environment, maintains equipment, reports malfunctioning and orders service as necessary.
- Consistently performs clerical duties with little or no supervision.
- Displays resourcefulness in the completion of daily tasks and special projects.
- Provides clerical support as needed to facilitate the smooth operation of the unit.
- Sorts and distributes mail.
- Requests internal services (i.e. media services, print shop, meeting rooms etc).
- Cooperates with reassignments in the interest of guest/patient care.
- Adapts work schedule to meet the needs of the unit.
- Ensures adequate staffing needs are met through willingness to float.
- Enters orders for proper tests for ancillary departments such as Lab, X-Ray, EKG, and Dietary, as noted on the patient’s chart.
- Proficient in computer usage relative to all guest/patient transactions.
- Directs internal and external customers in the desk area to their proper destination.
- Interacts with all visitors, coworkers and other departments in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Prepares patient chart upon admission/visit and maintains chart as appropriate.
- Files materials as requested in patient charts (e.g. care plans, lab reports etc); thins charts.
- Performs all guest/patient record activities and charting transcriptions with accuracy.
- Transcribes physician orders in a timely manner for nursing staff use.
- Demonstrates timely updating of guest/patient information into the computer system.
- All shifts are responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies for adequate availability to staff and guests/patients.
- Timeliness and urgency of communicating phone messages and guest/patient related issues are given utmost attention.
- Utilizes computer system to input and process medical data accurately and completely.
- Ensures charge and diagnosis are complete.
- Performs all tasks associated with maintaining accurate guest/patient census.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Compensation
Starting at $20.32 Hourly
