CAPS Collaborative is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Extended School Year Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our dedicated team of professionals to cover up to 18 days in 2025 Summer. Applicants should have experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. The applicant will work in an embedded therapy model individualized to each student\’s needs. School-based experience is a plus.

About The Role
Provide quality occupational therapy services in the educational environment according to the student\’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
Responsibilities
- Support the education of students diagnosed with a disability in their least restrictive environment.
- Administer direct occupational therapy intervention in accordance with the student\’s IEP, as delegated by the supervising occupational therapist.
- Modify or alter interventions within the scope of practice of the certified occupational therapist assistant.
- Assist the occupational therapist with data collection and the assessment of students\’ abilities for the purpose of determining their strengths and future recommendations.
- Observe and record the effectiveness of direct intervention and document student progress.
- Collaborate with educational staff, related service providers, supervising occupational therapist, and parents to implement student programs.
- Utilize professional literature, evidence-based research and continuing education content to make practice decisions.
- Function according to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
- Maintain professional boundaries and ensure student/staff confidentiality as appropriate within the educational Team
- Contribute to professional growth and collaboration by staying informed on current literature/resources in the field and actively participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Candidate Requirements
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professionals
- Understands the special education process and the role of the certified occupational therapist assistant in the educational environment.
- Has knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy principles, theory, and methods and their application in the educational environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds multiple times during the work day.
- Ability to frequently carry items weighing up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach, jump, and run as needed throughout the work day.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
