Role Overview: As a Data Science Mentor, you will primarily support learners in a no-code focused course, helping them understand and apply data analysis and visualization concepts using tools like spreadsheets and dashboards. You’ll guide students through practical, real-world projects while building their confidence without requiring prior coding experience. There is also scope to expand into supporting code-based data science learning, such as Python, as our course offerings grow.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a course syllabus in collaboration with the academic team.
- Be passionate about mentoring, guiding, and sharing your knowledge through student interaction.
- Lead both in-person, online and hybrid workshops, following a detailed syllabus that encourages active discussion and project-based learning.
- Shape the course content based on your expertise, focusing on real-world applications that are cool and accessible to the general public.
- Enrich the learning experience by building a strong community and drawing on your industry expertise to make the content relevant.
- Support and encourage students as they undergo a transformative learning journey.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students improve and grow.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Stay current with the latest development trends and best practices, integrating new technologies and methods into the syllabus.
- Work closely with the academic team to ensure a seamless course experience.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of proven experience as a Data Scientist.
- Proficient in English.
- Based in London and able to travel to Central London to deliver evening workshops.
- Strong proficiency in data handling and analysis (both code & no-code tools).
- Comfortable with framing questions from data.
- Solid understanding of data visualisation and storytelling.
- Ability to help students understand concepts and solve problems by providing support.
- Passion for teaching and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Organisation and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
