Releasing Potential is dedicated to supporting students aged 11–18 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Serving the local authorities of Hampshire and West Sussex, we provide a nurturing alternative to mainstream education where young people can thrive.

Each student is welcomed with unconditional positive regard and recognised as an individual. All our young people have an Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) due to SEMH challenges that have disrupted their learning and led to behaviour that challenges.

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN) through land based outdoor learning? Do you believe in the power of the natural world, movement and adventure to nurture confidence, connection and growth? We’re looking for a Lead land based Outdoor Instructor to deliver and coordinate high-quality learning experiences focused on the outdoors, walking, and climbing activities.

  • One or more senior Instructor qualification such as: WGL, CWI, MIAS

Role Overview

  • Liaise with the Lead Instructor responsible for Quality of Education to ensure resources are available to deliver activities
  • Develop and maintain equipment which reflects the criteria set out by the numerous National Governing Bodies of the activities that we deliver
  • Be responsible for the activities, sites, equipment and maintenance of all land-based activities
  • Ensure the activities reflect the guidance of National Governing Bodies
  • Ensure the technical ability of staff reflects the standards set out by the National Governing Bodies
  • Maintain the monitoring process of equipment within the Gear Log system
  • To maintain a personal competency and teaching ability of land-based activities to demonstrate good practice
  • Support and uphold the standards required to meet the expectations of external inspections
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards in line with the requirements of external inspections
  • Ensure you hold the appropriate qualifications and use the correct equipment for all activities you lead
