The Opportunity: Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join us as a Health & Safety Professional. You will work proactively with departmental process owners to deliver concise workable processes which are compliant with Legislative & Group requirements and which seek to deliver industry best practices. You will provide specialist Health, Safety and Environmental support through capture team meetings, project meetings, site visits, site inspections, audits and non-project meetings.

Through internal source data/records and relevant external source data, identify strategies to continuously improve communication, compliance and performance in the delivery of key HSE business objectives. Utilising internal & external data, produce concise and pertinent management information for review & action by the Management Team promoting best practice.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Provide cost effective specialist Health, Safety and Environmental support and advice to tendering and project delivery teams throughout the project life cycle.
  • Obtain and maintain ISO certification for the UK Transformer Business Unit including Achilles.
  • Support the development of processes consistent with Legislation, Group and ESI/Construction Industry best practice.
  • Provide internal service for audit and inspection of projects and departmental processes to monitor performance & identify areas for improvement.
  • Support HSE performance improvement strategies and campaigns linked to key business objectives & targets for implementation internally & through supply chain partners.
  • Produce monthly HSE KPIs and management information for review and action by the team.
  • Visit site as often as required especially during key critical activities and work with the site team to ensure compliance at all times around the UK.
  • Ensure 3rd supplier audits are agreed with the Business Unit Manager and executed in a timely manner.

Your background:

  • Proven experience working as a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) professional with project/construction experience.
  • Qualified to NEBOSH Construction level in HSE Management.
  • Conversant with relevant ISO standards.
  • High Voltage Power Systems experience or industry knowledge.
  • Experienced in the operation & management of business management systems.
  • Working to be a member of a relevant professional body.
