About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Capstan Setter Operator to join our production team. You will be responsible for setting and operating capstan lathes to produce precision components to specification. This is a key role in ensuring our manufacturing process runs efficiently and meets high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate capstan lathes to produce high-precision components
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Adjust machine settings for optimal performance and accuracy
• Monitor production to ensure consistent quality and adherence to tolerances
• Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of machines
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Report any equipment issues or quality concerns to the supervisor

Requirements

• Proven experience operating and setting capstan lathes
• Strong understanding of technical drawings and measurement tools (micrometers, verniers, etc.)
• Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Health and safety awareness in a manufacturing environment

Desirable

• Experience with batch production
• NVQ or similar qualification in mechanical engineering or machining
