Our client, a Civil Engineering Contractor based across the south coast, is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to work on projects from climate adaptation to infrastructure projects across Hampshire. The Quantity Surveyor will receive a generous salary up to £60k + Car allowance or Salary Sacrifice Electric / Hybrid Car Scheme, company bonus, Private Healthcare, and fantastic career development.
The client requires a Quantity Surveyor to provide a thorough and professional commercial service for all projects for which they are responsible. It will be the successful candidate's responsibility to ensure business objectives in terms of health and safety, profitability, and customer focus are achieved or exceeded.
Quantity Surveyor Job Overview- Manage the Cost Value Reconciliation process within the business
- Establish and maintain the Operations/Commercial partnership required
- Monitor and manage risk & associated budgets
- Procure subcontractors at lower than Tender sums whenever possible. Seek to negotiate the best price for the company
- Build strong relationships with clients & their representatives
- Discuss and develop procurement strategy with team members & in accordance with the contract programme. Monitor & update as necessary
- Submit timely applications for payments to ensure cash can be collected in accordance with the Contract
- Manage subcontractors effectively & in accordance with their terms & conditions
- Ensure project cost forecasts are updated accurately, in a timely manner
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a QS in a Civil Engineering Environment
- A working understanding of NEC3,4, ECC, ICE & JCT types of contracts
- Understanding of Tendering & Procurement processes
- QHSE legislation
- Experience of Dispute resolution (desirable)
- Understanding of CVR's & financial reports (desirable)
- Full driving licence
- Preferably HNC or Degree educated in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
- Can prioritise with good time management
- CSCS Card
