This position is a fixed term contract (FTC) role, working alongside another quality supervisor to act as the guardian of compliance to ensure the production of safe, legal, and authentic products within clearly defined standards. Working closely with management and operational and engineering teams, this position will lead the quality assurance team within the more established area of the site, a section with fully automated packaging lines. You will have responsibility for staff performance and development, along with being an escalation point for queries on compliance and non-conformance.
This is a broad role where you will have influence across multiple areas, and you will need to develop solutions to challenges faced with non-conformance, deliver training and embed new behaviours, address supplier quality issues, and more. The role will be responsible for conducting verification activities including QMS, GMP, and internal audits, and will have direct, hands-on responsibilities for BRC and retailer audits.
YOU’LL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the quality team to ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and integrity standards, and all records are appropriately completed and maintained.
- Setting, monitoring, and managing team and individual objectives and providing feedback to teams and individuals on performance.
- Maintaining the food safety and quality management system in line with standards and relevant retailer requirements.
- Ensuring production facilities comply with company and retailer GMP standards by conducting verification activities for QMP, GMP and internal audits.
- Working in full collaboration with production and engineering colleagues and leading meetings and group discussions to solve problems and make decisions to any food safety and quality risks.
- Progressing packaging non-compliance with suppliers and supply chain team to effectively and rapidly resolve any non-conformance.
- Monitoring and investigating customer complaints and generating appropriate root cause analysis reports as required.
- Maintaining BRC accreditation and relevant retailer approvals, including Red Tractor certification and Halal/Kosher accreditation.
YOU’RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE:
- Experienced at a management, supervisory or team leader level within a relevant production/manufacturing environment.
- Able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of internal audits (accredited or formal internal training highly regarded).
- Highly experienced and knowledgeable with BRC audits (having led parts of the audit and/or writing policies).
- Knowledgeable of GMP, practical application of HACCP, TACCP & VACCP, process and product standards, specifications and attributes.
- Experienced with retailer audit procedures (highly advantageous).
- Level 3 food hygiene certified (with a willingness to train to Level 4 standard).
- Level 3 HACCP (with a willingness to train to Level 4 standard).
- A strong communicator and able to influence individuals and teams at all levels.
- A strong report writer with high attention to detail and good general computer literacy.
