Play a key role in shaping the financial future of Kensington and Chelsea. As a Financial Forecasting Accountant (Revenue), you'll sit at the heart of strategic planning across the Council - helping us make sound, data-led decisions that directly support our services, our residents and our long-term financial health.
Working Style: At RBKC we are proud to support hybrid working. You'll be based in the Borough for 3 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.
What you'll be doing: You'll work closely with the Financial Strategy Manager (Revenue) and Assistant Director Corporate Finance to develop and maintain the Council's Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS). That means contributing to budget setting, forecasting and monitoring - and helping us stay ahead of the challenges and opportunities facing the borough. A key part of your role will be coordinating the Council's quarterly Revenue Budget Monitoring Report, liaising with senior colleagues and wider finance teams to ensure our information is accurate, timely and clear. You'll also support the development of the MTFS module in our Oracle EPM system, supporting better forecasting and easier access for more than 350 budget holders. You'll provide financial support and insight to teams across the Council - helping to manage risks, refine budgets and support compliance with legislation, guidance and best practice. From performance reports to improvements in financial self-service, your work will help shape the way we operate. You'll prepare well-evidenced financial reports, manage key reconciliations and suggest improvements wherever you spot them. You'll support ad hoc projects, work with auditors and balance competing priorities as part of a collaborative, high-performing team.
What you'll bring: You'll be CIPFA/CCAB part qualified or AAT qualified or have equivalent experience, with a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial control and local government finance. You've worked on budget setting, in-year monitoring and account closures, and are confident using accounting systems and Excel to interrogate and explain data. You're a clear communicator - able to explain complex financial information to different audiences and advise colleagues at all levels. You're someone who asks questions, spots trends and brings thoughtful challenge when needed. You enjoy solving problems, working with others and finding better ways of doing things. Most of all, you're committed to public service and bring the financial accuracy and insight that underpin everything we do.
Why join us: At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future. You'll join a forward-thinking, highly respected finance team at the centre of the Council's long-term planning. We're modernising how we manage our finances and you'll be part of that change. This is a chance to lead the development of Oracle EPM for the MTFS, support smarter reporting and work on projects that reach across the organisation. You'll work closely with senior leaders and be supported to develop your own career in a collaborative, ambitious team. It's a role that offers variety, challenge and the opportunity to make a real impact on how we plan for the future and support our residents.
