Do you have a passion for working outdoors and ensuring our highways are safe and efficient? If so, we want you to join our dynamic team as a Highways Operative!
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a 7.5 Tonne lorry and other machinery with confidence and skill.
- Work within highways, including traffic management, to enhance road safety.
- Carry out minor civil engineering tasks, such as excavating shallow trenches (up to 1.5m).
- Conduct public utility service detection to ensure safe operations.
- Lay gravity drains and associated fixtures and fittings (100mm - 225mm diameter).
- Work with and connect to live sewers with precision.
- Participate in out-of-hours call-out (1 week in 8) to maintain service continuity.
- Get involved in winter service operations as a gritter driver when required.
What We're Looking For:
- A valid 7.5 Tonne lorry driving licence.
- Experience working in highway environments, especially in traffic management.
- Skills in carrying out minor civil engineering works.
- Knowledge of public utility service detection processes.
- Ability to lay and connect gravity drains and work with live sewers.
Desirable Skills:
- Class 2 HGV driving licence.
- Experience in excavating deep trenches (exceeding 1.5m).
- Licence to operate mini diggers.
- Experience working in confined spaces.
