Production Supervisor
JOB OVERVIEW
As Production Supervisor, you are responsible for the oversight and execution of day to day production activities, delivering quality products, on-time. Still assuming a hands-on role within the factory, you will ensure that production activities remain a safe and efficient process by monitoring and supporting the team and organising workflows. This is a dynamic leadership role that offers opportunities to drive innovation and efficiency in our manufacturing processes.
You will ensure the shopfloor environment is fully HSEQ compliant and that the shopfloor team are suitably skilled, and the manufacturing infrastructure is suitably equipped to support high levels of productivity.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assume ownership of day to day production activities, troubleshooting and solving issues that arise that may impact on product quality, delivery schedules or safe operations.
- Engender a culture of continuous improvement, applying 5S and lean principles to optimise productivity, maximise efficiencies, and enhance HSE practices.
- Responsible for day to day people management, developing an open, team orientated, supportive culture that values transparent communications, proactive and positive interactions with peers and internal customers, with an emphasis on collective success.
- Ensure all shopfloor KPIs (e.g., production throughput, safety incident rates, or on-time delivery percentages) are met and that results are delivered in accordance with the Unique Group values.
- Contribute to the maintenance of an effective, up to date and accurate production plan, working with the Production Planner to ensure production capacity and manpower planning is optimised and work is scheduled in the most efficient manner.
- Championing the use of D365, ensure all data and information required to measure performance and productivity is input accurately and in real-time.
- In compliance with the competency matrix, and with an emphasis on flexible skillsets, ensure the shopfloor team receive all required training.
- Engage proactively with the Production Planner to ensure sufficient levels of component stock and materials are in place to support efficient and continuous production activities.
- Ensure a rigorous and proactive maintenance regime is in place for key factory machinery, and manage the repair or replacement of faulty production equipment.
- Demonstrate a flexible approach to working hours, being available to assist during times of high production demand or unforeseen challenges to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Deputising for the Production Manager as required.
- Active commitment to QHSSE, including compliance with QHSSE Policies, and supporting documentation contained within the IMS.
- STOP an activity, at any time, if believed to be unsafe or failing to meet the relevant QHSSE requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Significant experience of production activities gained through practical on-the-job training in a factory setting of similar size, scale and complexity is essential.
- Certification in Production/Manufacturing/Operations Management preferred.lean manufacturing, Six Sigma qualifications.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Possessing at least five years of shopfloor operations experience working in a similarly structured factory environment.
Good knowledge of manufacturing-related activities, specifically, scheduling and planning.
Proficiency in D365 or other ERP systems.A natural leader, practical in nature, capable of commanding the respect of the team and creating a positive, open, team-orientated culture.
Decisive and confident decision maker, possessing excellent communication skills and a planning mindset.
Strong HSEQ skills and an uncompromising approach to creating a safe factory environment.
