We’re helping a supportive secondary school in Caerphilly find a Behaviour Support Worker to join their team from September. The school caters for pupils aged 11–16 with a mix of behavioural needs, including SEMH and ALN, and they’re looking for someone who’s confident, caring and up for a challenge.

Why this job matters:

This isn’t just about classroom support. It’s about being the person a young student can rely on when everything else feels overwhelming. You’ll work closely with pupils in KS3 & KS4 who face challenges related to behaviour, SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), or ALN (Additional Learning Needs). These pupils don’t need perfect. They need patient, real, steady support — someone who doesn’t give up on them when they act out. Sound like you?

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups
  • Helping manage behaviour and build positive habits
  • Encouraging engagement during lessons
  • Supporting social skills, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Creating calm, structured environments where learning can happen

Who this role would suit:

You don’t need teaching experience. You do need presence, empathy, and a sense of humour. We’re especially keen to hear from people with experience in:

  • Youth work
  • Residential or care settings
  • Sports coaching or mentoring
  • Teaching assistant or pastoral support roles

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Stay calm in challenging situations
  • Can set boundaries kindly but firmly
  • Know how to build trust with young people
  • Have a team-first attitude
  • Are open to learning, training, and growing

Essentials:

  • DBS on the Update Service (or happy to apply)
  • EWC registration (we’ll help if needed)
  • Provide references to cover 24 months of employment
  • Reliable way to get to the school in Caerphilly

What you’ll get in return:

  • Free training: Thrive training, TeamTeach, Safeguarding & more
  • One-to-one support from your dedicated consultant
  • MyTP Work app for easy shift & training management
  • Progression routes into teaching, SEN, and behaviour specialist roles
  • £50 referral bonus if you recommend a friend

Ready to get started? You don’t need to know all the answers. Just bring the right mindset — we’ll support you with the rest. Apply now or reach out for a friendly chat about what’s involved.
