The Communications Manager’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the school’s website, social media presence, and annual magazine. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Communications Manager will help inform and engage current families while sharing Meadowbrook’s story with prospective families and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Write, edit, and design the weekly newsletter, website content, and school-wide announcements.
- Take photographs at school events and during daily campus life to support storytelling and marketing initiatives.
- Develop and manage content for social media, including graphics, photos, and short videos that reflect the Meadowbrook brand.
- Collaborate with faculty to share stories that highlight student learning and school programs.
- Produce the annual Meadowbrook Magazine, writing articles, selecting photography, and working with outside vendors to design and print.
Brand Management
- Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and visual identity across all communications.
- Maintain brand standards and messaging guidelines.
Digital & Print Platforms
- Manage updates to the school’s website and work with vendors as needed.
- Curate and catalog photo assets for use in digital campaigns, publications, and marketing materials.
- Organize and oversee paid advertising placements, including digital display, print, and sponsored content opportunities.
School Life and Community
- Perform other communications-related duties as needed to support the goals of the school and the Communications team.
- Build relationships with students, faculty, and families.
- Help out with school activities such as lunch, recess, or events as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of experience in a communications, marketing, or editorial role, ideally in an educational or nonprofit setting.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong command of voice and tone.
- Experience in content strategy, digital marketing, and brand alignment.
- Proficiency with digital communication tools (e.g., CMS platforms, email marketing tools, social media scheduling software).
- Photography skills with an ability to capture candid and event-based moments; familiarity with editing tools is a plus.
- Commitment to equity and inclusion, and a passion for storytelling that reflects a diverse community.
- Collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable to a fast-paced school environment.
- Experience with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and basic photo/video editing.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across a diverse school community, including students, faculty, families, and outside partners.
- Ability to pass state and federal fingerprinting and CORI/SORI checks
