A well-established manufacturing and distribution business based in Blackburn is seeking a proactive and experienced Transport Manager to take ownership of its fleet operations. The successful candidate will oversee the compliance, scheduling, and utilisation of a fleet of up to 8 vehicles, with a strong focus on cost-efficiency and operational excellence.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving logistics environment and has a clear understanding of legal compliance, service planning, and modern route optimisation tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure full Operator Licence compliance across all transport operations
  • Oversee daily vehicle inspections, maintenance planning, and defect rectification
  • Manage service schedules and ensure all vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant
  • Maximise fleet efficiency and reduce cost per delivery
  • Ensure full tachograph compliance including downloads, audits, and driver hours management
  • Utilise route optimisation software to improve delivery planning and visibility
  • Liaise with drivers, operations, and customer service teams to ensure seamless delivery performance
  • Support wider compliance to group logistics and transport standards
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience in transport management, ideally within a manufacturing, logistics, or distribution setting
  • Sound knowledge of DVSA regulations and Operator Licence requirements
  • Strong grasp of vehicle inspections, servicing routines, and preventative maintenance best practices
  • Demonstrated experience with tachograph legislation and driver compliance
  • Familiarity with route planning tools such as Maxoptra and/or electronic POD platforms is advantageous
  • Effective communicator with excellent planning and problem-solving skills
  • Results-driven, safety-focused, and committed to operational excellence
