We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Façade Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for façade projects, including curtain wall systems, cladding, glazing, rainscreens, and other external envelope components. You will play a key role in the tendering process, ensuring that pricing is accurate, competitive, and in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and technical documents to prepare accurate take-offs and cost estimates.
- Liaise with clients, architects, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather and clarify information.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and tender documentation.
- Assess material, labour, and equipment requirements and obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Evaluate project risks, value engineering opportunities, and alternative façade systems.
- Maintain and update a database of historical project costs and supplier pricing.
- Attend pre- and post-tender meetings as required.
- Support the project team during handover from estimating to delivery phase.
- Monitor and track cost changes and variations during tender negotiation.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in façade estimating or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of façade systems including glazing, cladding, curtain walling, and thermal insulation.
Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Causeway, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors or specialist façade subcontractors.
- Familiarity with sustainability and energy efficiency requirements in façade design.
- Knowledge of relevant UK building regulations and façade performance standards (or adapt to local standards if needed).
