A client within the Public Sector based in the South is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager to join their Corporate Services team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a health and safety environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of health, safety and welfare functions across the organisation, ensuring statutory compliance, effective policy development, performance management, and a strong culture of safety and accountability.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Directly managing Health and Safety services across a complex and diverse organisation
- Leading the development of policies, strategies, systems, audits, and standards to ensure legal compliance
- Overseeing the implementation of reviews and performance targets to improve service delivery
- Driving measurable improvement in health, safety and welfare practices and outcomes
- Inspiring and motivating internal teams, partners and stakeholders to maintain a proactive safety culture
- Managing change initiatives focused on delivering customer-focused, outcome-based services
- Successfully managing competing budgetary priorities within tight financial constraints
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- Substantial and successful experience managing Health and Safety functions in large complex organisations
- Demonstrable understanding of statutory health, safety and welfare obligations
- Experience developing strategies, audits, and policies that ensure full legal compliance

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £32 per hour PAYE).
