Are you tired of your 9am-5pm career and looking for an exciting change? We are recruiting a Personal Assistant/ Carer for a male disabled client in Denmead, who runs his own business, having achieved his BA (Hons) in Graphic Design and a Masters in Visual Communication, as well as being an England Boccia Athlete and a Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme Athlete Representative.

Start: As soon as possible - please note applicants must be resident and eligible to work in the United Kingdom and minimum age must be 21, due to vehicle insurance policy requirements.

Salary: £15.53 per hour, £62.12 sleeping nights

Personal statement from our client: I am physically disabled with Athetoid Cerebral Palsy. I have a vacancy for a Personal Assistant / Carer to join my team. I am also an athlete in the Paralympic sport of Boccia, currently competing as an England Squad player and a Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme Athlete Representative. This job is suitable for someone looking for part time hours.

The job:

  • Providing assistance with my personal care needs
  • Providing support for at least two evenings a week (These shifts will typically be between 16:00-22:00, but will vary depending on my needs.)
  • Providing support for at least one weekend a month including an overnight stay at my home or coming away with me (Some weekends, I will need you from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening and others will be from Saturday morning until Sunday evening)
  • Providing additional support on an 'as and when' basis to cover as required (Including Day shifts, for example some Fridays 09:00-17:00)
  • You will be offered your shifts, six weeks ahead
  • Practical support with daily living activities such as; shopping, cooking
  • Driving my wheelchair accessible vehicle
  • Assisting me to fulfil my Boccia training plan as required [full instructions given]
  • Enabling me to be socially active, as I enjoy watching football, going to the theatre and attending concerts/shows
  • Accompanying me and providing me with support on work related trips including overnight stays

The applicant:

  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Key attributes are for applicants to be physically fit, caring, have good communication skills and a great sense of humour.
  • Be able to work flexibly week to week as required.
  • Must hold a full clean Driving License
  • You will be directly employed by me with the aim of supporting me in my "day to day" independent living, sporting and social activities. You will be given individual training relevant to the skills and knowledge you bring to the role.
