Senior Unix Platform Engineer is sought by a highly innovative IT services company for their client in Central London. They require an accomplished and well-practised Senior Unix Platform Engineer to impact their mission to innovate security technology across Linux/Unix as well as the network security across their core systems.

As Senior Unix Platform Engineer, you will focus on the build, implementation and support of core services of Virtualisation and compute platforms (Redhat, OEL, Solaris, OVM and VMware). This opportunity will additionally focus on service to ensure that all SLA’s and availability targets are met. The role also requires thought leadership and an ability to drive IT initiatives that continually improve our efficiency, agility, performance, availability, and operational excellence.

  • Seeking advanced Engineering skills in RedHat and/or OEL, Solaris 10 & 11 as well as Solaris Zones & LDOM’s – Intermediate
  • Accomplished abilities in Patching and Live upgrades as well as Volume Managers, ZFS, VXFM and excellent abilities in Clustering, Virtual Machine Management (OVM), VMWare and HCI (VxRail, Stack)
  • Solid experiences in Converge (Exadata, Supercluster, PCA), Chassis / Blade based server technology and X86 hardware.
  • Fundamentals in Networking skills TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, DNS, LDAP as well as Automation skills using Python
  • Bright and highly collaborative with a “get-things-done” attitude to problem solving and technical challenges.
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering or similar.

Permanent contract details include:

  • Start date: ASAP.
  • Contract: Permanent.
  • Salary: Depending on experience up to £85,000 base salary
  • Location: Must be happy to be onsite in Central London across 3 days a week hybrid.
