The Company: Johnsons Hotel Linen, who specialise in supplying the corporate 4 star market and the budget hotel sector, is seeking a talented individual to take on the role of Engineering Manager in a busy and challenging environment. This is very much a hands-on role, leading a small team, in which you will provide vital support to the business and contribute to the smooth running of the organisation. We are looking for a highly versatile, self-motivated and professional individual to lead our engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and varied role, supporting the smooth running of our laundry in Bourne. The site runs 24/7, and the Engineering Manager is a key member of the Site Leadership Team.

The Role:

  • To take full responsibility for the Engineering Department, ensuring effectiveness of plant machinery, maintenance and utilities to support full efficiency within production.
  • To be fully responsible for both preventative and reactive maintenance activities, working alongside your team.
  • To manage a team of Engineers and Technical cleaners on a multi-shift arrangement, appraising and reviewing performance.
  • Ensure full training for all team members is identified through regular reviews.
  • To review and update as necessary plant and machinery maintenance schedules.
  • To be responsible for the planning and organisation of all planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • To review systems for monitoring of all plant and machinery and to be proactive in seeking remedies to minimise any downtime, which may affect the operation of the production facility.
  • To review, monitor and maintain safe systems of work for the engineering team.
  • Be a key member of the Site Leadership Team and work with all other departments on a daily basis.
  • Manage storage and ordering of spare parts and other essential equipment.
  • Be responsible for the installation and annual review of key plant and machinery, monitoring performance and recording and reporting material defects to the Directors of the Company.
  • Liaise with the Operations and Production Teams to ensure any required maintenance or emergency repairs minimise disruption, whilst ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Take overall responsibility for the daily, weekly and monthly machinery checks and repairs.
  • To lead a team of shift engineers, managing training, performance and shift cover to ensure 24/7 cover is provided for the site.
  • To assist with the recruitment of engineering staff, including checking relevant qualifications.
  • To provide assistance with the planning and management of new projects.
  • To review and report on new plant and machinery.
  • To audit as required the workmanship of external contractors.
  • To assist with the completion of health, safety and environmental audits at all plants and ensure completion of recommendations to an acceptable standard.
  • Responsibility for contractors working on site in terms of work permits and RAMs.
