We are currently seeking an interim Product Quality & Stability Lab Technician to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral, easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £35,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.
JOB PURPOSE: The role of the Product Quality and Stability (PQS) team within Unilever Hair and Skin Care Global Design Centre is to ensure that the products we have on shelf are of high quality in terms of stability. A standard that people expect from Unilever brands. To do this we need a team dedicated to high quality measurements, using the most reliable techniques, capturing and managing data in a structured way. An opportunity has arisen for a degree-qualified scientist to join the team in Port Sunlight. The role will contribute to all innovation and capability projects across Hair and Skin Care global and EU regional teams as well as packaging.
The role will be suited to an energetic, self-motivated, organised research scientist with strong people skills and good practical laboratory skills. The role will require identifying and working with other groups and external partners to develop the stability measurement techniques of the future and build on the techniques and processes already in place. The role requires working across multi-disciplinary project teams where members contribute to achieving a common goal. A candidate should be able to demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative and a desire to continually develop their scientific skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make recommendations on product quality to support multiple launches to market.
- Responsible for delivery of methods that test the suitability of new packaging solutions with Hair and Skin Care Formulations.
- New method development relating to formulation and packaging stability.
- Drive rigour in terms of high-quality measurements, reports and data capture.
- Bring together cross category working teams to shape best practice for stability across Port Sunlight R&D.
- Support the rest of the PQS team by providing and maintaining outlets for information sharing such as Teams and Sharepoint sites as well as driving regular communication through team meetings.
- Present to stakeholders across work levels.
ALL ABOUT YOU:
- Degree in a chemistry science, analytical chemistry or equivalent is essential.
- Experience working in an analytical lab, ideally with good working knowledge of a range of analytical measurement techniques.
- Excellent computer literacy, written and verbal communication skills and an ability to convey scientific findings to audiences with varied backgrounds.
