Job Summary:We are looking for a motivated and skilled Maintenance Engineer. Candidates with a strong background in working with large machinery, as well as mechanical and electrical systems, are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with PLC programming would be beneficial but not required.
This role:
Involves ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimisation of equipment to achieve safe and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the operation, installation, and maintenance of sawmill machinery, including saws, and conveyors.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimise downtime and enhance productivity.
Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
Assist with the optimisation of the production process and machinery to improve throughput and efficiency.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure all machinery complies with safety regulations and standards.
Provide technical support to other sawmill personnel, including guidance on the safe and efficient operation of machinery.
Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance.
Work collaboratively with external contractors and suppliers as needed.
Contribute to the selection and procurement of tools, materials, and spare parts.
Participate in training and development to keep up-to-date with technological advancements in sawmill machinery and control systems.
Requirements:
Experience working with large industrial machinery.
Electrical Engineering bias
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Basic knowledge of PLC programming (beneficial but not essential).
Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to machinery operations.
