About the role: The Commercial Manager is a member of the European operations of Envision Energy, focusing primarily on supporting all the energy projects (Wind, Energy Storage and Green Hydrogen) for some Key Account(s) in Europe. This position is preferably based within the UK or France, but consideration will be given to excellent candidates. The role is a customer facing one, so hybrid working with intermittent travel to customer locations across Europe is to be expected.
The Commercial Manager analyses and assesses customer requests for proposal and tenders and works across the organization to coordinate the overall proposal development. The Commercial Manager drives the execution of optimized strategies to secure profitable business with the Key Account(s).
Key responsibilities:
- Analyse and assess customer requests for proposal and tenders, considering critical key indicators for the customer and business.
- Work across the organization, demonstrate strong teamwork skills, lead virtual deal teams and coordinate the overall proposal development, with a focus on the commercial aspects of the project in close cooperation and partnership with the Technical Leader, Sales Manager and other functions such as Legal, Commercial Finance, Risk Management and Project Management.
- Actively work with the Key Account Manager to participate in the development of the commercial strategy for the customer by identifying and capturing value optimization opportunities.
- Present the proposal to the customer and take responsibility for drafting and negotiating the equipment and services contracts with our customers, including all terms and conditions and supporting documents, in English.
- Lead key negotiations with customers and external stakeholders, including third party consultants and legal advisors; drive the proposals to closure.
- Take informed decisions regarding the proposal; present proposal summaries including a commercial risk and mitigation plan to the risk review board and obtain management approval for all critical items of each transaction.
- Support the project execution team in post contract related modifications related to notices, change/variation orders etc.
- Frequent business trips within the region and occasional trips to China are to be foreseen.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Engineering, Legal). MBA may also work if one is not an Engineer or legally trained.
- Fluent in English in speaking and writing.
- Enthusiasm for working with customers.
- Cultural sensitivity to working across time zones and cultures across Europe and Asia.
- Experience in negotiating terms and conditions and driving deals to closure.
- Strong process analysis, problem solving and strategy development skills.
- Ability to take critical decisions in the face of limited or conflicting data and under time pressure.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work intensively during negotiation periods.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence with executive level presentations.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills and proven leadership skills in virtual project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple complex activities simultaneously.
