About the role
Provide support to the Senior Surveyor/Survey Manager in the delivery of all survey requirements for the project. This role will involve different survey processes as required to support the site teams. Tasks will vary but will include engineering control, topographic survey, engineering surveying and setting out. Provide onsite supervision, office support and mentoring for trainees and graduates within the survey team. You will need to provide the site team with construction information, assist in QA/QC, and support H&S (Health & Safety) and sustainability initiatives within the survey department. Be fully conscious of company and industry safe standards of working and implement these within the construction environment. Carry out survey activities as part of a team without supervision. Creating and cascading site safety briefings to survey team members including the preparation of WPP (Work Package Plan), RA (Risk Assessment), and TBS (Task Briefing Sheets).

- Produce deliverables to strict deadlines in accordance with the site programme
- Work collaboratively with all site teams and stakeholders
- Supervising the mentoring and training requirements of survey team members
- Collecting survey field data, processing, and issuing to clients or stakeholders in the agreed format
- Ensuring all site-specific tolerances are met in any survey related operation
- Ensuring the safe and secure storage of all historical survey data relating to the project
Health Safety and Environment
- Attend site briefings, site inductions and Toolbox Talks
- Responsible for the safe working of themselves, their team and others whilst carrying out any survey related activities
- Hazard identification and raising observation cards
- Provide daily site safety briefings to the survey team, SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) essential
- Creating site safety briefings including the preparation of WPP (Work Package Plan), RA (Risk Assessment), and TBS (Task Briefing Sheets).
Engineering Control
- Supervise survey teams in various engineering survey activities
- Carry out engineering surveying activities as required
- Carry out checks on survey equipment in accordance with BMS (Business Management System)
- Carry out survey QA on design deliverables prior to construction release
- Provide site engineers with information from design deliverables (schedules, digital models, and drawings)
- Carry out independent surveys checks at key stages in the construction process
Quality
- Complete QA (Quality Assurance) records as required
- Produce as-built drawings from survey data in survey specific software
- Comply with hold point checks in accordance with the ITP (Inspection and Test Plan) procedure. Formally comprise and issue results to all relevant stakeholders
Professional Development
- Enrol in professional qualification as identified with line manager
- Attend survey specific courses as identified with line manager
- Member of the CinstCES (or technical member working towards full member)
- Obtain SMSTS qualification
Commercial
- Ensure that accurate site records of all survey related tasks are completed and maintained
- Complete and submit weekly timesheet records
- Maintain inventory of survey equipment and consumables
- Advise on survey equipment procurement
Who we're looking for
- Relevant degree, diploma, or equivalent industry recognised qualification
- Hold a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
- Must be keen to learn and develop within the Survey Team
- Possess effective communication and negotiation skills
- Ability in IT (Information Technology) applications
- Build effective working relationships with the wider project team
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry
- Knowledge of settlement monitoring systems, methods, and technologies
- Knowledge of geodetic requirements associated with project requirements
- Knowledge of latest survey equipment, software, and technologies
- Hold a full driving licence
- Experience in establishing GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) networks
