Due to an internal promotion, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented Senior Operations professional to join a leading FMCG company, based in Kent. This role will oversee all aspects of operations, directly line managing Production, Warehousing, Engineering and allocations, ensuring a safe, compliant, efficient working environment and coaching teams to high levels of performance.

There is significant opportunity for career advancement - the role has become available due to the promotion of the previous candidate to a Directorship role across other sites. The business has a track record of promoting talented people in positions of wider responsibility and there is room for substantial organic growth, both on this site and beyond. The business cares about its people. Values are hugely important to this business and they underpin everything they do - internally, with customers and with suppliers.

Strong infrastructure - new positions are being created all the time and the wider operational infrastructure around S&OP, supply chain and technical/quality is excellent. A continuous improvement mentality within the business. The site isn’t broken, nor a turnaround situation, but they are very much on a 'good to great' journey. Continuous improvement is going to be key, both in mindset and practical application.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience working as an Operations Manager, Site Manager, Factory Manager or General Manager in an FMCG environment (ideally food, drink, fresh produce).
  • Strong understanding of food safety and quality standards.
  • Experience of lean manufacturing/continuous improvement.
  • A coaching management style with a track record of building high performing teams.
  • Experience of logistics/warehouse management in addition to core production management expertise.
  • Financially astute - capable of controlling costs, managing budgets and optimising the overall financial performance of the plant.
  • Strategic mentality capable of futureproofing the site and with an awareness of what is to come.
