We are hiring a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor in Peterlee. Full-Time | Regular UK Travel Required.

Janus is looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Advisor to join our dedicated HSEQ team.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Group HSEQ Manager, you’ll play a vital role in shaping and supporting our health, safety, and environmental systems across the business. From ensuring legal compliance to promoting best practices, your expertise will help maintain a safe, sustainable, and compliant workplace across our operations—both in the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legislative advice on all HSE matters
  • Manage and maintain HSE management systems, including risk assessments, COSHH registers, policies, and procedures
  • Support CDM activities at construction sites
  • Deliver HSE training and raise awareness of policy updates and best practices
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintain up-to-date records
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports and assist with ad hoc reporting
  • Maintain your own CPD and support wider HSEQ initiatives as required

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a full-time HSE role within a manufacturing setting
  • NEBOSH General Certificate / Environmental Certificate
  • ISO 14001 auditing certification
  • Strong communicator with solid organisational and reporting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Forms and Excel
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel overseas

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or SMSTS
  • Experience in construction health and safety
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and metal finished goods manufacturing
