Potentia Search is working alongside an international water technologies business as they seek to add an Electrical Engineer to their team in EMEA. This role will work from their UK premises in Tamworth on a hybrid basis, supporting international projects related to water treatment. The successful candidate will sit as part of a wider electrical and engineering group and report to the EMEA Engineering Group Leader.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Accomplishment of the assigned tasks, realise on schedule and on budget all the requirements related to the projects and tasks.
- Ensure sound engineering practices, national/international rules, and customer’s technical specification appliance.
- Design optimising costs, time, quality, and operability.
- Focus on safety during manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and operation.
- Attention to details and their feasibility.
- Liaise with Proposal, Sales, Operation and Services to analyse problems, generating corrective actions to improve product performance.
- Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
- Design, implement and improve electrical equipment, components, products, and industrial systems.
- Support manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
- Supervise and train project team members as necessary.
- Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
- Plan layout of electric power transformation, distribution lines and stations.
- Assist in developing research and programs for new equipment and major repairs.
- Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
- Design the electrical schemes.
- Support Line Manager in establishing work instructions and technical manuals, in compliance with provided guidelines, in providing engineering support for plant activities.
Education and professional experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ experience in the applicable Engineering dept.
- Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) is a plus.
- Familiarity with engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Spac, Elecworks etc.).
- Solid understanding of core concepts including electrotechnics and programming logics.
- Creativity and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
- Technical writing skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. English is mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail, safety, and operability.
- Deep knowledge of electrical national and international standards and codes.
- Deep knowledge of major electrical components (Transformers, Rectifiers, and Inverters).
- Experience and deep knowledge of design, sizing and testing of Low and Medium Voltage systems.
- SIL awareness and preferably knowledge.
- ATEX/Ex proof installation technical knowledge.
- SAP coding knowledge.
