What to Expect
- Join the GME Propulsion team as a Senior Metrology Engineer, leading the development and launch of precision measurement systems for ICE and EV powertrains.
- Define site-wide gauging strategies, ensuring our processes and equipment meet industry standards and support world-class manufacturing for JLR’s next-generation propulsion systems.
- Develop and implement standardised gauging strategies across global propulsion manufacturing sites.
- Lead the design, procurement, and launch of advanced measurement systems, including CMMs, 3D scanners, and lab equipment.
- Manage end-to-end delivery of gauging solutions aligned with new product introduction and process installation plans.
- Resolve technical and supplier issues to ensure timely, high-quality measurement system deployment.
- Oversee calibration, repeatability & reproducibility (R&R), and MSA studies, ensuring compliance with IATF16949 standards.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in measurement processes for ICE and EV programmes.
What You'll Need
- You will be a subject matter expert who can act as a trusted advisor to our manufacturing engineering teams, offering consultative guidance on metrology requirements.
- You should have a genuine curiosity for quality and gauging, with a solid grasp of measurement principles.
- The ability to communicate complex scientific and statistical concepts clearly - both technically and in simplified terms, is essential to succeed in this role.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and CAD using Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Experienced in specifying inspection plans and selecting appropriate measurement tools.
- Skilled in conducting Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and capability studies.
- Proven track record in delivering results within automotive or propulsion engineering environments.
- Whilst not essential, it is desirable to hold experience with CMM programming, 3D scanning, surface finish analysis, and automotive quality systems.
