Our award-winning client is in urgent need of a professional to source a junior engineer to join their expanding team. The Junior Systems Engineer is responsible for deployment, configuration and maintenance of the client's systems. The role has a wider scope to assist with all server-related tasks company-wide, and work with the lead system administrator and the software team on new solution designs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Role would suit a first or second jobber in this field, with a degree or similar.
- Linux skills over multiple distributions.
- Scripting skills in BASH or similar.
- Some programming knowledge, however, would not expect this to be your strongest point.
- Some AWS experience, ideally with a developer or similar qualification.
- Other cloud experience to some degree (Google or Azure).
- Some networking experience, but does not matter if limited to just cloud (i.e. not switches etc.).
- Some form of automation experience such as Ansible or GitLab runners; my client is not overly concerned which.
PROFILE:
The role requires someone who is committed to quality, has a high attention to detail, works well with others and has a can-do attitude. The person will be dealing with problems at their own pace, as such it will need good time-management skills.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Degree level or equivalent education is expected for this role. No specific qualification or certifications are expected for this role. Able to obtain UK security clearance.
