This role will be responsible for leading our strategic approach across community and health system, demonstrating the value of physical activity and movement to improve health and social wellbeing outcomes. As a convenor, brokering cross-sector relationships within the education sector, as well as youth and community settings, you will play a crucial role in building and developing trusting relationships across multiple sectors. As a member of the senior leadership team, the successful candidate is tasked with supporting the development and implementation of the partnership’s organisational strategy, providing leadership, and guiding the direction to the wider team.

Location: The Hines Building, St John's Campus, University of Worcester, Henwick Grove, St John's, Worcester, Worcestershire, WR2 6AJ

Salary: £36,500 to £39,500

Hours: Full Time

Contract: Contract/Temporary (Full Time, Fixed Term until March 2027)

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the local health system and seize opportunities to embed physical activity and movement within care pathways, key strategies and delivery plans.
  • Using data, insight and intelligence to develop key relationships to ensure that residents of all ages benefit from and enjoy opportunities to be active, and building the right foundations to be active throughout their lives.
  • Support the development and execution of the partnership's strategy and ensure alignment with community needs, public health, Integrated Care Board objectives, and Sport England's Uniting the Movement strategy.
  • Lead on the organisational approach to welfare and safeguarding as required by our role as a Sport England system partner in partnership with the CPSU and Ann Craft Trust.
  • Fostering the principles of co-production design, development and implementing innovative and evidence-based physical activity programmes and wellbeing initiatives, targeting diverse groups (children, adults, older adults, disabled individuals, etc).
  • Report on progress of initiatives and programmes within areas of expertise.
  • Contribute to the evaluation, learning and reporting of physical activity and wellbeing programmes, ensuring they are effective, sustainable, impactful and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provide evidence-based recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging research and best practices in physical activity, wellbeing, and public health.
  • Be responsible for the direction of approach for the two strategic leads (Children and Young People/Healthy and Active Communities).
  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues and resolve issues, as required.
  • Secure funding and resources for physical activity and wellbeing initiatives through partnerships, grants, and sponsorships.
  • Act as an external advocate for matters relating to the organisation.
  • Develop partnerships and working relationships with key Herefordshire and Worcestershire bodies and individuals, including local authorities, sports organisations, umbrella bodies and funding agencies.
