The Chief Executive of London Mozart Players will be responsible for steering the organisation towards its artistic and strategic goals while ensuring sustainable growth and operational excellence. This role involves being the public face of LMP, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally including the Chair and Board of Trustees, our Conductor in Residence, our musicians, funders, partners, and the wider cultural community. The Chief Executive will champion the orchestra’s mission to inspire, engage, and educate through exceptional classical music performances, supported by a robust foundation of sound financial management, audience development, and organisational innovation. This position requires visionary and pragmatic leadership, a passion for music, a strategic mindset, and the ability to motivate and manage a small, hardworking team to achieve the orchestra’s long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic and Artistic Leadership
- Lead the development and delivery of a clear, ambitious long-term strategy that balances artistic innovation with community impact.
- Collaborate closely with the Chair, Board of Directors, Conductor in Residence, and LMP musicians to align on vision, direction, and operational priorities.
- Guide the LMP artistic team, supporting innovative yet accessible programming that reflects diversity and audience development needs.
- Sustain and grow high-quality performance engagements through proactive relationships with promoters, venues, and artistic partners.
- Promote LMP’s identity and values while remaining open to new creative ideas and approaches.
- Foster a strong, transparent partnership with the Chair and Board, ensuring effective governance practices that align with LMP’s mission.
- Provide strategic insight and comprehensive reporting to support Board decision-making.
- Represent LMP effectively with the Board of Trustees, Development Group, and LMP Friends.
- In collaboration with the Board and Senior team, oversee robust financial planning, including budgeting, risk management, and financial stewardship.
- Support the Development Manager with fundraising strategy across grants, philanthropy, individual giving, and commercial partnerships.
- Maintain financial security, ensuring sustainable growth and operational resilience.
- Ensure efficient day-to-day operations, promoting a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive working culture.
- Empower and support the LMP management team and staff, ensuring effective delivery of organisational goals.
- Translate strategic plans into actionable work programmes, monitoring performance and outcomes.
- Act as a dynamic ambassador for LMP in the media, cultural sector, and with key stakeholders including Arts Council England, Croydon Council, and the Association of British Orchestras.
- Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with venues, promoters, artists, artist managers, and funding bodies.
- Enhance the public profile and reputation of LMP through proactive, strategic communications.
- Champion education, outreach, and participation programmes, strengthening LMP’s impact across South East communities.
- Lead on audience development strategies with a focus on inclusivity, diversity, and long-term engagement.
- Cultivate relationships with LMP’s local residencies (e.g. Fairfield Halls, St John’s, Upper Norwood, Hastings) to deepen community roots.
