Responsible for performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to care for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and observe all hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide general patient care and perform routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Assist with personal hygiene to promote patient comfort and well-being.
- Check and record intake and output as ordered.
- Take and record patient vital signs and other measurements as indicated.
- Administer enemas, reinforce simple non-sterile dressings, apply binders, collect specimens, apply heat or cold devices, and perform other routine tasks.
- Assist the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures.
- Help maintain a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
- Maintain patient medical records in an orderly manner, documenting all care provided and significant information legibly, accurately, and completely.
- Observe assigned patients and report any problems, changes in condition, or unexpected occurrences to RN/Team Leader.
- Attend seminars and inservices to stay current with specialty knowledge.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Vocational/Technical training and more than six months of job-related experience or equivalent.
- RI State Nursing Assistant license required.
