We’re looking for a full-time, permanent, Transport Operations Manager to support the transport management at our Shared User site in Sherburn. You’ll be directly responsible for supporting the Transport Manager in the overall running of a safe, efficient, and cost-effective grocery retail transport operation. This is a full time, permanent position, predominately working Sunday to Thursday nights, predominantly 22:00 to 06:00. However flexibility is essential, this is logistics after all!

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Ensure the transport plan is executed effectively by tracking vehicle and driver progress, proactively managing any delays or deviations to keep operations on track.
- Proactively manage unforeseen events during shifts, minimizing disruptions by effectively utilizing available resources.
- Monitor unit and trailer availability, ensuring vehicles and trailers are correctly allocated and circulated.
- Proactively review the next 24-hour period to ensure scheduled resources are accurate, achievable, and cost-effective.
- Escalate any customer service delivery issues promptly, communicating delays or failures to both the customer and the National Account Manager throughout the shift.
What you need to succeed at GXO:
- A proven track record in managing transport operations within a fast-paced distribution environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- International CPC is required along with an excellent working knowledge of transport compliance and legislation.
- The ability to lead, develop, motivate, and inspire your team with a real drive for optimisation, change management and continuous improvement.
