A Cloud Engineer with Azure experience is sought by a leading financial services organisation. This is a new role and will see you join the cloud-based Infrastructure team to help drive and deliver the cloud strategy, ensuring the smooth operation and continuous evolution of the firm’s Microsoft Azure capabilities across a hybrid global estate.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in Microsoft cloud and hybrid environments, with strong engineering and troubleshooting skills and a commitment to continuous improvement. You’ll be working closely with architects, product owners, and external vendors to design, test, and implement secure, scalable solutions that users globally.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Core Technology teams to build and evolve Azure-based services
- Technically test and validate services and upgrades for secure production use
- Lead implementation of approved changes through full development lifecycle
- Maintain coherent cloud architecture with focus on governance, security, and documentation
- Plan and coordinate service maintenance (patching, DR tests, upgrades)
- Serve as 2nd line escalation point for support issues within the cloud domain
- Liaise with third-party vendors including Microsoft and cloud MSPs to resolve incidents
- Document processes, services, and operations in line with best practice
- Keep up to date with industry trends to inform strategic planning and innovation
- Proven experience in delivering and managing multi-region Azure infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles
- Familiarity with GitHub, GitLab, CI/CD, YAML
- Configuration/Policy/Documentation as Code proficiency
- Hands-on experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, SQL) and APIs
- Experience with Kubernetes clusters and microservices
- Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, CSPM, CWPP
- Strong technical documentation and operational handover capabilities
- Experience working in Agile and distributed team environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Curious, proactive, and passionate about evolving tech landscapes
- Comfortable working across interdisciplinary teams and navigating complexity
