Overview: We’re working with Polish Village Bread, a long-established bakery delivering authentic products across the UK, to find an experienced and detail-focused Food Safety Manager. This is a vital, on-site role for someone passionate about quality assurance and food safety standards in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of food safety and quality assurance in the bakery
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust food safety and quality systems in line with BRC, HACCP, and legal standards
  • Conduct internal audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all production areas
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records including traceability, temperature controls, and sanitation logs
  • Work closely with production, hygiene, and technical teams to implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Train staff on food safety protocols, hygiene standards, and GMPs
  • Handle customer complaints and non-conformances with swift and effective investigation and resolution
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure all raw materials meet required quality and safety standards
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and best practices in food manufacturing and quality management

Requirements:

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Proven experience in a food safety or quality assurance management role in food manufacturing – bakery experience highly desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP (Level 3 or above) and BRCGS standards
  • Experience working in BRC-audited environments
  • Excellent understanding of UK food safety legislation
  • Confident communicator with strong leadership and training skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems
  • Fluency in Polish is preferred due to the nature of the team and operations
