The Aurora Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, with an ambitious growth plan. We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our therapy team at our North West Aurora Schools, including Aurora Brooklands, Keyes Barn, and Woodlands Schools. These schools offer flexible day placements for students aged 5 to 19 with communication difficulties, learning difficulties such as dyslexia, autism spectrum conditions, anxieties, and other barriers to learning. This new role aims to develop and embed our therapy services for young people.

Key duties include:

  • Collaborate with the SENCo and therapy team to deliver high-quality healthcare and therapy services.
  • Work with families and external agencies to tailor therapy to children’s needs.
  • Conduct autonomous assessments of children with diverse needs, including autism spectrum conditions and sensory and attachment difficulties.
  • Interpret assessments to recommend and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Support development and care plans, focusing on daily living activities, self-care, productivity, and leisure.
  • Formulate, evaluate, and review individualized occupational therapy plans using clinical reasoning and diverse treatment options.
  • Maintain accurate written records in line with professional standards.
  • Assess children with complex needs based on advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy (Essential)
  • HCPC Registration (Essential)
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Experience in an occupational therapy role
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and with external agencies
  • Knowledge of managing children with autism, sensory needs, and attachment difficulties
  • Experience in CAMHS or ASC occupational therapy roles (Desirable)
  • Experience in paediatric or special school settings (Desirable)
