Jewson we are looking for a Head of HR to help deliver and develop our People Plan and support our teams to improve colleague experience and lead with a ‘customer first’ approach. You will build a connected, values-led culture where our people thrive, are engaged, inspired, and empowered to achieve our business goals.
The Head of HR will be supporting our Regional Team in Scotland and Northern England, a role which allows you to travel throughout the region so you can best support our colleagues in branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner the Regional Leadership team to implement and deliver the People agenda swiftly and effectively.
- Be an advocate for talent development, creating a continuous pipeline of successors for key roles
- Collaborate with the central L&D team to develop Brilliant Branch Managers and great people in all our roles
- Exhibit a passion for driving positive change and creating a culture of continuous improvement within our teams
- Drive initiatives to deliver increased management capability and accountability.
- Support and coach managers to improve diversity and inclusion; influencing stakeholders, role modelling and proactively identifying solutions.
- Develop and coordinate initiatives which enhance social value, employee engagement and foster a positive workplace culture
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers, providing practical solutions and signposting other areas of support
- Establish key performance indicators and regularly report on progress and outcome, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

Required Skills and Experience
- Proven long term experience as a Regional HR Business Partner or Head of HR in a multi-site complex commercial environment, with focus on delivering practical solutions
- Commercially astute with ability to grasp and translate the business strategy into clear, achievable people objectives, with a ‘customer first’ focus
- Demonstrable experience in partnering with stakeholders at all levels to drive organisational change, with the ability to support and influence operational/functional teams in achieving their plans and objectives
- Digital mindset and IT literate with the ability to use data to influence, challenge and support the delivery of operational/functional plans.
- Knowledge of HR Systems (ideally Workday)
- In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and ideally experienced in competency-based selection and psychometric testing
- Comfortable working with ambiguity, resilient, curious and open to learning and sharing.
- MCIPD qualified
- Ideally, ILM Level 5+ Coach or equivalent
