We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician at Chesham Sewage Treatment Works, working across sites in the Colne North area. Your role involves ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance, including inspection, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification, and repair of electrical and mechanical plant equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment following company procedures to reduce plant breakdowns.
  • Investigate failures and carry out repairs swiftly to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults.
  • Provide technical advice and support, including training for trainees.
  • Work on various equipment such as pumps, control gear, motors, VSDs, valves, sensors, PLCs, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in standby rota following appropriate training.

Location & Working Pattern:

Base: Chesham - HP5 1TH
Pattern: 38 hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Time-served apprentice with experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity.
  • Qualifications: electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering, with mechanical NVQ2/3 preferred.
  • Upskilled in mechanical maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Valid driving license required.
