Role Overview
The Hoist Driver role at Airband supports our field operations team in lifting and transporting equipment, tools, and colleagues to enable customer installations. The Hoist Driver plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials and operates the hoist safely. The Hoist Driver must conduct routine inspections, adhere to safety protocols, communicate effectively with team members, and respond promptly to any operational issues to maintain smooth workflow and prevent accidents. The hoist driver will also be used to support our fibre & FWA engineers on site with daily activities such as setting up sites, cabling, tacking, pulling in OH/UG fibre cable. The role will help support our engineers in completing domestic and commercial wireless and fibre installations.
Responsibilities
- Operate hoist equipment to transport colleagues and materials to designated levels of the job site.
- Conduct daily inspections of hoist equipment, checking for mechanical issues and reporting concerns to maintenance or site supervisor.
- Ensure that hoist loads do not exceed weight limits and are balanced and secured correctly.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues on site to maintain Safety and Compliance.
- Keep the hoist cabin and operational area clean and free from debris or obstructions.
- Adhere to all occupational health and safety guidelines, including PPE and fall protection protocols.
- Assist with loading and unloading of materials when required.
- Assist the install engineers on wireless and fibre installations.
- Record hoist usage, maintenance, and safety checks as per company standards.
- Conduct stock runs for Engineers when required.
Skills Required
- Proven experience as a hoist operator or similar role in a Construction or Telecoms setting.
- Valid hoist or lift operation certification/license.
- Strong understanding of safe load handling and principles.
- Able to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to plan and organise day to attend jobs.
- Comfortable to work outdoors with exposure to heights, weather elements, and telecommunications equipment.
- Expect frequent travel to support engineers on site.
- Have a flexible approach to working including occasional weekends and overtime, may be necessary depending on business needs.
- Must comply with all site-specific Health & Safety and PPE requirements.
- Be a team player with a flexible approach to support colleagues.
