The predicted salary is between 24000 - 36000 £ per year.

Participate in the mooring and unmooring of vessels, the connection and disconnection of cargo transfer systems, working as deckhand on the T Class Line Boat and Tug, berth stand by duties (if applicable) in accordance with all terminal Operating Procedures, local operational site instructions and Svitzer Group Operations Procedures. Working a 9 day cycle of 6 days on call followed by 3 days off.

Your Main Tasks Will Be:

  • Liaise with Shift Supervisors and Team Leader to meet operational requirements.
  • Operate mooring equipment and machinery within prescribed safe working limits.
  • Moor and unmoor vessels safely.
  • Connect and disconnect cargo transfer hoses and/or arms.
  • Work as deckhand on the T Class Line Boat in a safe manner.
  • Maintenance work (greasing) of dolphins mooring hooks and loading arms on the berths.
  • Assume berth ownership and perform routine checks of safety equipment of jetty area.
  • Initiate defect, hazard/near miss and accident/incident reports (as required).
  • Meet operational requirements by actively participating in voluntary overtime.
  • Undertake planned preventative and cosmetic maintenance (as directed).
  • Maintain standards of performance and behaviour as laid down for members of the shift teams.
  • Provide training to nominated trainees.
  • Participate in all the required safety matters.
  • Undertake any other duties as required.
  • Comply with Valero SSOW when working at Valero.
  • Comply with SVITZER health, safety, environment and security management systems and procedures.
  • Be familiar with relevant OH&S, environment and security regulations and reporting as appropriate.
  • Participation in safety training, including any training of other crew members.
  • Participation in operational improvement exercises and liaison with SVITZER management regarding improved operational procedures, leading to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Comply with local, regional, national and international legislation.
  • Use company email and other communication systems to receive information.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Group Health Safety and Environmental Policy.
  • Participate in all shift briefs and Toolbox Talks.
  • Respond to any site emergency procedures.
  • Be open to change in working practices, procedures and any development within your scope of work and role within the Company.
  • Promote and develop effective working relationships with fellow colleagues, other shifts and with the Client contacts.
  • Participate in any training the Company deems necessary to enable you to carry out your duties safely, competently and efficiently.
  • Share knowledge and experience, especially with new recruits.
  • Use initiative and demonstrate creative thinking.
  • Participate in required training.
  • A commitment to undergo training to meet business requirements.
  • Carry out Berth Watchman and other relevant duties if trained and signed off.

Training and competencies:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Valid ENG1.
  • CCNSG.
  • Valid BA Training.
