Bridgman IBC, a leading UK manufacturer of fire-rated doors and doorsets, is seeking a commercially minded Estimator to join our team. This is a key role for someone who can interpret technical specifications and deliver accurate, competitive estimates for bespoke timber fire doors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret architect specifications and door schedules.
  • Select and combine materials to achieve required fire ratings and acoustic specifications.
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotes, ensuring value and compliance.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates for custom timber fire doors.
  • Engage with customers to clarify requirements, provide technical advice, and ensure expectations are met.
  • Follow up on quotations to maximise conversion rates and build relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams for smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and supplier communications.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience in estimating within a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural specifications and technical schedules.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance cost, quality, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and estimating software.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Experience and Skills

  • Experience in the joinery, doorset, or fire door sector.
  • Knowledge of fire door regulations, fire ratings, and acoustic requirements.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating with suppliers for specialist joinery products.
