Are you interested in working on one of Disney’s most iconic musicals? Disney is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join as Deputy Stage Manager. Working with the Company Manager, Technical departments, General Management Teams, and local venue staff to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances.
Responsibilities include:
- Liaising between the Company Manager, Technical departments, Resident Creative Team, Production and General Management Teams, and venue staff.
- Ensuring the smooth running of rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances, including recast rehearsals and ongoing cover rehearsals.
- Producing and distributing concise rehearsal notes.
- Ensuring awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and making necessary adjustments.
- Performing daily setup, stage pre-sets, and providing clear communication with the Stage Manager and the crew.
- Calling each performance, ensuring these take place safely.
- Producing accurate rehearsal schedules and show reports and circulating accordingly.
- Taking an active role in teaching new members of staff and deps, and working closely with theatre staff at the venue.
- Creating and maintaining accurate production paperwork, keeping the prompt book up-to-date and concise.
- Ensuring an efficient flow of information for the smooth running of the show.
- Working in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy, liaising closely with Disney’s Health and Safety Manager.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience of being ‘on the book’ on large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable.
- Strong score reading ability required.
- Clear, confident communication and decision making essential.
- Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with the cast, creative and production team.
- Transparent and open approach, able to work well under pressure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and use of own initiative.
- A full awareness of the need for integrity and confidentiality.
- Organised with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A strong team player with the ability to follow instructions and department rules.
- A motivated individual driven to learn new skills and maintain a consistent high production standard.
- Discretion and ability to work closely with others.
Working hours: 48 hours per week. Weekend and evening work integral (Tuesday to Sunday show schedule). This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the health and safety rules & regulations in place at the production.
