We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Merthyr Tydfil to assist with the appointment of a Kitchen Assistant, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at the client's discretion.

Rate of Pay: £13.05 - £16.57 per hour

Hours per week: 10

Summary: We are seeking a committed and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our care home team within the Social Services Group. As a Grade 2 Kitchen Assistant, you will support the preparation and serving of meals to residents, ensuring a clean, hygienic, and safe kitchen environment. You will work under the direction of the Cook or Catering Supervisor, contributing to the overall wellbeing of residents through the provision of nutritious meals.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food and beverages in line with dietary requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen and dining areas.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment using manual or mechanical methods.
  • Check and store deliveries, ensuring stock rotation and minimising waste.
  • Report any concerns about food safety, kitchen equipment, or supplies to the Cook or Manager.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a kitchen or catering environment (preferably in a care home or similar setting) is desirable.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults or in a care setting would be beneficial.

Please note: You should be available to work immediately or at short notice. You should have the right to work in the U.K. This role requires a Basic DBS.
